Altho' not as exciting as our September 2003 visit to Long Island (convicts and an FBI Agent), it is nice to see the grandchildren growing up. Jacob is now six and in Grade 1, Amelia, four in Pre-K, and Rebecca, two and three-quarters and into everything.

The Toronto Airport was crowded for the holidays so we were late getting into La Guardia, NY. The kids were already in their pyjamas to greet us and show us their latest toys.

Jake proudly showed us the Harry Potter book he was reading. Grandpa proudly showed Jake that he had read all the Potter books. Howie said to Jacob, "Let me know if you don't understand all the words and I'll explain them." Jacob said that he understood all of it so Grandpa quizzed him and sure enough he knew it but some of it was scary. Grandpa said, "Don't be scared, it's like a movie where there are a 100 people standing behind the cameraman: directors, electricians, makeup, script writers, and many more and they aren't scared." Becca is waiting to lick the bowl after Alicia finishes the muffins for Amelia's Pre-K school party.

The girls dressed in matching outfits for the party at Crestwood School. Julia is with them. She is Ariana's sister. Ariana, if you remember our previous visits. is engaged to Jacob. We asked her mother if they were still getting married. "Of course, but like all couples they have their little spats."
